"'Til the Storm Passes Over" Original oil painting by Connie Tom Hudson River School
This is an original oil painting by Connie Tom. This painting reminded me of an old gospel song by the same title. It is available for purchase at www.connietom.com .
"....Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord..." "The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." ~ Ex 14:13,14.

"Morning Has Broken" Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom Hudson River School
"Morning Has Broken" Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom Hudson River School
There is a beautiful song that had the lyrics in it, "Morning Has Broken". There are few songs in life that absolutely move me the way this song did. So I painted this painting while thinking of that song. I hope you enjoy the painting as much as I enjoyed painting it.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." ~ Isaiah 26:3.

"Storm Breaking" by 30"x40" Oil Painting Connie Tom A Painting a Day Texas western landscape
"Storm Breaking" ~ 30"h x 40"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom
I hope you can feel there was a voracious storm that had just taken place over this Texas landscape and was now beginning to break up. The sun is starting to shine, highlighting the clouds in the center of the painting. The yellow green grass is vivid from the rain. The horses had taken shelter under their favorite tree from the storm are yet unsure whether it is safe to come out into the open field yet.

"One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple, For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." ~ Psalm 27:4-5.
"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." ~ Psalm 56:3.

"St. Marks Lighthouse" - Florida by Connie Tom Luminous Landscapes
St. Marks Lighthouse - Florida 24"h x 20"w Oil Painting by Connie Tom Sold
This painting is a scene from the panhandle town of St. Marks in Florida. In the 1820’s, this town was considered a vital port of entry for the planting and growing regions in Florida and Georgia. Today this small community (population 315) is known for bordering St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. Pristine coastal marshes, tidal creeks and upland forests give us a look at an unspoiled Florida, where peace and quiet reign. This is a painting of St. Marks Lighthouse, where you can see miles of marsh and sandy beach.
Please see more of my work at www.connietom.com.
"Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies and thy right hand shall save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me; thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands." ~ Psalm 138:6-8.

"Where the Buffalo Roam" 36"h x 48"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom Available for Purchase!
A storm had just ended and the sun came out. With so much moisture in the air, the colors in the sky and clouds were just beautiful. You could see miles and miles of land. These buffalo were meandering... grazing their way across the land.

Morning on the Land of the Lakes
"Morning on the Land of the Lakes" 24"h x 36"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom ~ Sold!
It's no secret that I love to paint sunrises and sunsets, because that's the time of day with the most beautifully dramatic colors. And at the lake, all those gorgeous sky colors are reflected in the water beneath which to me is just stunning. It's like a jolt to my senses. I find it absolutely captivating. I hope you will too!You can see more of my work on my website at www.connietom.com .

"The Firmament" ~ 28"h x 22"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom
Sometimes when I just want to get away from the busy-ness of life, I try to imagine myself somewhere far away from cities and crowded places. Somewhere where I can enjoy the quietness, sometimes in the mountains with water and fresh country air where nature is undisturbed. Waterfalls are mezmerizing to me. To feel the cool mist upon your skin.... Hear the rippling of the water and splash of the waterfall? Now that's living! I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"Early Morning River Mist" 24"h x 36"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom Hudson River School Daily Painters Morning River Sunrise landscape
"Early Morning River Mist" 24"h x 36"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom ~ Sold!
It's morning and the sun has risen on this rippling river. The early morning mist still hovers above the land. I love the dance of light on the rippling water. I love bodies of water period. They are just so relaxing? fascinating? mesmerizing? Each one seems to evoke different feelings and of course, sunrises and sunsets have the most dramatic and beautiful colors which creates mood and atmosphere. There's also something about a sunrise that's uplifting. It sets forth a fresh new day!

"Fishing at First Light" ~ 24"h x 36"w ~ A Painting A Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom
Again... another panaramic views of wide open spaces. With a beautiful sunset and at the lake. What a way to start a morning. I can only imagine the sounds those two fishermen are hearing right now. A gentle rippling of the water. A fish break the water now and then. The woodland areas coming alive with the morning. Birds, frogs... a gentle breeze in the trees. Watching the sun through the morning fog still hazing across the water. I love to wach the effects of light in atmospheric conditions. Mercy!!! ~Connie

"Sunset Over Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons" ~ 24"x36" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Western Landscapes
This work pictures a beautiful sunset over Jackson Lake and the Grand Tetons located in Wyoming. As I have confessed before, an artist I am... a photographer I'm not. The easel light over the painting during the photographing has washed out the colors in the sky area and the photos just do not render justice to the actual painting. But I hope you enjoy anyway! ~ Connie
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, O LORD my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment: Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters: Who maketh the clouds His chariot: Who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh His angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire." ~ Psalm 104:1-4

"Fishing in the Moment" 24" x 36" Hudson River School Daily Painters by Connie Tom
These two lucky fishermen have escaped the busy-ness of life, not only to fish if they please, but to experience the elements of life and nature. They are out on the lake during a beautiful sunset. I wanted to catch this moment in time when the clouds start rolling in and the light from the sunset filters through the atmosphere in the heavens above creating a myriad of cloud colors and quite a light show. When the clouds start moving in fast, you don't know what's going to happen. There's a feeling of vulnerability and also an element of anticipation. In awe of this breathtaking beauty, these fishermen are happily... "enjoying the moment." ~ Connie

"Sailboats in the Sunset II" ~ 12"x24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes Paintings by Connie Tom
This is the second in a series of paintings entitled the "Sailboats in the Sunset Series". This work pictures a beautiful sunset that is also reflected in the ocean. There are sailboats along the horizon and breakers are making their way to the shore. Sunsets and sunrises are my favorite time of day to paint because that's when you can see the most dramatic lighting. Enjoy!

"Shimmering Gold" ~ 30"h x 24"w A Painting A Day Hudson River School Colorado Landscapes by Connie Tom
The shimmering gold of the aspens is a beautiful contrast to the deep bluish purple of the mountains. According to Indian legend, the aspens quiver eternally because they once failed to do so before the Great Spirit. Enjoy!
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." ~ John 15:4-5.

"The Secret Place of the Most High" ~ 2/5/08 A Painting a Day Daily Luminous Landscape Paintings by Connie Tom
To get in a quiet place and think upon the most High God of the Universe! Of all living creatures... all powers and principalities of the air, all angelic beings, all the Heavenly Hosts, all creatures upon the earth. Whose eyes are always upon us and whose ears are open to our prayers. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation." ~ Psalm 91:1-4,8-9.
