This is a panaramic view from on top of a hill overlooking miles and miles of country bathed in a beautiful sunset. The nearest hill was adorned with these beautiful pink flowers which made a striking contrast to the forest green folage.

Spring Has Sprung! A Painting a Day by Connie Tom Hudson River School Landscape

Spring has definitely sprung! So many changes in the air, in the colors, the smells and temperature and landscape. It’s good to see “green” again and new life and the activity of gardeners planting fruits, vegetables and flowers. But these natural places are so intriguing with wildflowers springing up everywhere. I loved this scene with the fog and mist in the air, the flowers seemed brighter than usual. I hope you enjoy this painting.

This work pictures the deep rich masses of foliage in it's full fruition, typical of middle summer at the water's edge adorned with the beautiful lighting of a sunset. Please note the indepth detail in the vines curling up around the main tree, the haze from the sun that fades some elements in the scene, the grasses and wildflowers on the banks and the brushwork and colors in the sky and the clouds. I thought these colorful autumn birches stood out in a pleasing manner to the eye in contrast against background of the silvery blue waters of this mountain lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Enjoy!

This was a commission painting I did. I love how the beautiful wildflowers seem to spring up and thrive even in the midst of such rugged mountainous country. Oh, that we could be more like them when times are hard. I love the contrast of the delicacy and size of the flowers to the massiveness of the mountains. It was so much fun to paint. I love all the cheery colors. The dark mountains seem to heighten the vibrancy of the hues in the flowers. ~ Enjoy!

I have done so many festive autumn scenes, so being this time of year, I wanted to "reflect upon Spring" if you will. There's something exciting.... anticipated about the coming of Spring after a long, cold winter. To see all the changes taking place, color changes, new life springing forth, the sun's rays bringing forth beautiful flowers and foliage and leaves on the trees, plus the warmer climate makes us want to get out of doors and enjoy the newness of nature and the wonderful fresh air. ~ Enjoy!
