"Storm Breaking" by 30"x40" Oil Painting Connie Tom A Painting a Day Texas western landscape

"Storm Breaking" ~ 30"h x 40"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom

I hope you can feel there was a voracious storm that had just taken place over this Texas landscape and was now beginning to break up. The sun is starting to shine, highlighting the clouds in the center of the painting. The yellow green grass is vivid from the rain. The horses had taken shelter under their favorite tree from the storm are yet unsure whether it is safe to come out into the open field yet.

"One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple, For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." ~ Psalm 27:4-5.

"Autumn's Gold" by 24"x36" Oil Painting Connie Tom A Painting a Day Hudson River School Western Texas Landscape

"Autumn Gold" ~ 24"h x 36"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom

This is a peaceful autumn scene with horses meandering on both sides of a country brook. I tried to get a feeling of depth in the hazy distant hills in the middle background of the painting. ~ Enjoy!

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth." ~ Psalm 33:13-14

"Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord; he is our help and our shield." ~ Psalm 33:18-20

"Texas Horses and Bluebonnets" 24" x 36" Connie Tom Hudson River School Landscape

This is a Texas landscape in the autumn with it's beautiful wildflowers and bluebonnets. I kept changing the sky and ground and then decided to add the horses running free. I don't know if it's the season and cold weather, but I've been feeling more than a little confined and the addition of the horses gave me a sense of being set free. Enjoy!

"A Romantic Memory" ~ 7" x 5" A Painting A Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

In his journals, Delacroix said that colors are "the music of the eyes," that they "combine like sounds" that create harmonies rivaling those produced by the great composers with great orchestras. In fact, he says: "Certain color harmonies produce sensations that even music cannot achieve." It is my goal to produce color harmonies that create positive and uplifting sensations.
The setting, the light and colors are all reflective of a wintery scene in time past... when a night out on the town meant a romantic ride in a horse drawn carriage with the one you love. It meant milling around and greeting others out on the street, visiting the little sidewalk shops and outside cafes. It's about evening twilight and the street lights are reflecting in the wet pavement. Even the horse is decked out with bells on his bridle. The carriage has stopped. A gentleman is waiting by the carriage while the lady is talking with a street vendor selling flowers. I painted this work in a little more impressionistic style than is my usual, which the blurriness I think adds to the idea that it's a memory. This painting evokes feelings of true love, peace and joy, wholesomeness, purity, light and feelings of harmony and well-being. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"Grace" ~ 24"x30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn Tree Landscapes by Connie Tom

I love peaceful settings. It seems to bring peace to my soul and spirit... my inner most being. Grace is not something you earn. Wages we earn by our hard work and we are therefore justly rewarded. Grace is that "unmerited favor from God" many times coming in unexpected ways. Look for it today. It is a gift.... it is a blessing!

"Grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.." ~ Ephesians 1:2-3
