"Early Morning River Mist" 24"h x 36"w Original Oil Painting by Connie Tom ~ Sold!
It's morning and the sun has risen on this rippling river. The early morning mist still hovers above the land. I love the dance of light on the rippling water. I love bodies of water period. They are just so relaxing? fascinating? mesmerizing? Each one seems to evoke different feelings and of course, sunrises and sunsets have the most dramatic and beautiful colors which creates mood and atmosphere. There's also something about a sunrise that's uplifting. It sets forth a fresh new day!

"A Place of Refuge" ~ A Painting a Day Chisholm Trail Art Autumn Tree Landscapes by Connie Tom
"A Place of Refuge" was a delight to do. I seemed to have retreated into my own private little sanctuary and found comfort and peace and delight in the beauty and freedom in nature. ~ Enjoy!
"If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." ~ 1 John 5:9-11

"Majesty" ~ 24"x30" A Painting a Day Western Landscapes Hudson River School Arizona Art by Connie Tom
"Majesty" depicts the wide open spaces of the West. This was a tedious painting with much detail, but I was pleased with the finished painting. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie
"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith." ~ Ephesians 3:14-17.

"And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul; And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; Thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." ~ 2 Samuel 22:1-4.

"Old Man and the Beagle Pups" ~ 24" x 30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom
Several years ago, I had the privilege of riding with some friends to visit their friend... the one in the painting. He was 91 years of age and full of wit and wisdom. I tell a funny story about him on my website. He must have loved his wife, he spoke of her often even though she had passed away five years prior. Now these beagle hounds filled the gap. Even though the pups he tenderly holds are yapping, clamoring for attention, he is still the main attraction. There was such a kindness about him. He's passed on now, but memory of him still remains. Enjoy!

"Along a Country Road" ~ 16" x 20" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn Tree Landscapes by Connie Tom
As I was painting this, I was reminded me of leisurely walks along country roads in early spring and early autumn. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

"Autumn's Hidden Sanctuary III" ~ 24" x 30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School by Connie Tom
The gold of autumn leaves are laced with sunlight in this woodland sanctuary. I had a problem with the photography of this work. The actual painting is not quite so intense of yellow, and has a delicate lace of sunlight of white, tinted with just a little yellow that is not showing up in the photo. Almost like a very light cream colored lace. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie
"But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: He is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him." ~ Psalm 37:39-40.

"Shhh...I Can Hear the Country Calling" ~ A Painting a Day Hudson River School Sunset Landscapes by Connie Tom
This scene makes me think of the awakening of a brand new day. The country holds a very special place for me. I grew up in the country. I love the fresh country air, the simplicity and goodness of the land, the solitude and the wide open spaces. The flock of geese overhead represents a sense of freedom and ability to be and do what we are supposed to do and be. After all... God wouldn't have given birds the desire to fly south if He wasn't going to also give them the ability to do so. Enjoy!

"Lanterns of Gold II" ~ 30" x 24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn Tree Landscapes by Connie Tom
This is the second in a series of oil paintings that I did entitled the "Lanterns of Gold Series". I love the colors of autumn and I love trees and being out in the woods. And I am especially fascinated with how light reflects off of water still on the many colored autumn leaves when the morning dew is still fresh on the leaves. They glisten like "Lanterns of Gold". I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~Connie
"The Lord hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the Lord, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word. Bless ye the Lord, all ye His hosts; ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works in all places of His dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul. ~ Psalm 103:19-22

"Spruce Trees and Berry Bushes" ~ 24"w x 18"h A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom
This painting is available for sale.

This is the season when many people love to take vacations. If you are like me, I love to get away to some place remote where I can find peace and solitude. This work pictures a sunrise through the mist and the fog of blue spruce trees and berry bushes in the rugged country of the Yukon Territory located in Alaska. The sun glints light off of the dew that is still upon the foliage and causes many beautiful prismatic color to be seen through the atmosphere. "Shhh...I Can Hear the Country Calling! II" 4-5-08 Spring Flowers Landscapes by Connie Tom
It's Spring! I've been couped up behind this easel; the wood stove going; the windows shut. When the sun's shining and new life is teeming and sprouting up everywhere in grasses and flowers, I'm soooo ready to get outside in the country, smell the clean fresh air and check my flower beds or out in the field to see what new flowers are coming up voluntarily. It's just like a gift from God!
"I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wonderous works." ~ Psalm 145:1-5

"Flowers and Grasses" ~ 3/26/08 A Painting a Day Spring Landscape by Connie Tom
As one season changes into another, as winter changes into spring, the earth seems to come alive from the dead. I love to watch how flowers seem to spring up out of the ground and the grasses began to grow and sway in the sweet, warm breeze graced with sunlight. ~ Enjoy!
"As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good." ~ Ecclesiastes 11:5-6.

"Lanterns of Gold IV" ~ 12/17/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
When I walk through the woods, I find myself in awe of the beauty of nature. I am aware of the life teeming all around me, be it plant or animal. As an artist, I watch with interest the play of light on the millions of leaves as the wind creates movement in the branches and limbs. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~Connie
"O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
"Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works." ~ Psalms 104:24, 30-31

"The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the the hills, and they smoke. I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord." ~ Psalm 104:31-34

"The Still Small Voice" ~ 10/30/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
SOLD!
Collection of Tom DiMartino ~ Buffalo, NY

"The Still Small Voice" was another intense study I did of Hudson River Master Frederick E. Church. The wilderness is a place for solitude and quiet contemplation. The Boston Evening Transcript published this in Church's day:
Solitude reigns over the scene, and as the eye ever turns away
from the wilderness below to gaze upon the brilliant canopy of the sky,
the imagination whispers that he who was once
'led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted,
must often at the twilight hour have turned his gaze
from the gloom and loneliness of the forest
to the brightness and beauty of those heavens
which to his vision of faith were ever opened,
revealing the 'Father of Lights'.
~Enjoy!
