"Autumn in the Catskill Mountains" by 30"x40" Oil Painting Connie Tom A Painting a Day Hudson River School New York Landscape

Autumn is my favorite season to paint because of all the vibrant and beautiful colors. And I love the water. I think viewing bodies of water helps to evoke a feeling of refreshment, peace and serenity. John Muir was a man who was so instrumental in getting our National Parks System established because he knew what a treasure scenes of nature is to us. I like what he said: "Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." This resonates soooo much with how I feel and how I paint. I hope you enjoy this one!

"Happiness in the Adirondacks" ~ 18" x 24" A Painting a Day Luminous Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

This is another intense study of one of the Hudson River School Master artists, Frederick Edwin Church. He and Albert Bierstadt are my two favorites. I love their lighting effects. This work pictures a panaramic view of a lake in the Adirondacks Mountains located in upstate New York. This boater is out for a wonderful time taking in the spectacular beauty of God's creation. Enjoy!

"Autumn's Hidden Sanctuary" ~ 30"x24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Autumn New York Landscapes by Connie Tom

There's something about going for a hike in the autumn woods that is so relaxing and invigorating. It gets your mind off of the business of this world and on to the beauty of nature. Woodland animals seem to compete with each other... attracting your attention from one moment to the next. You look up and see how freely and easily the squirrels scamper from one limb to the next, the birds are singing and usually there's a breeze in the trees swaying the limbs causing a flurry of beautiful colorful leaves to cascade down around you. The air is fresh and wholesome and the sun glints light off the moisture on thousands of leaves like sparklers. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie
This work was chosen for the Calendar Art last year by the South Fork Natural History Museum located in Long Island in Bridgehampton, New York

"Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." ~ Romans 8:37-39.

I thought these colorful autumn birches stood out in a pleasing manner to the eye in contrast against background of the silvery blue waters of this mountain lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Enjoy!

"Storm Clearing Over the Catskills" ~ A Painting a Day Hudson River School by Connie Tom

This was another intense study I did of Hudson River School master, Frederic Edwin Church's original. It is painted on a 24" x 36" gallery wrapped canvas. He, Albert Bierstadt, and Jasper Cropsey are my favorites of this first major art movement in America known as the Hudson River School, because of their dramatic lighting, mood and atmosphere. ~ Enjoy!

"This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." ~ 1 John 5:6-7
