"The Pounding Surf Against the Rocky Coast" ~ 2/16/09 A Painting A Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

"The Pounding Surf Against the Rocky Coast" is another intense study I have done of the revered Hudson River School master Frederic Edwin Church. There is something so fascinating to me about the ocean.... it's massiveness, I guess. Completely out of man's control. Always moving with a thousand little glints of reflected light. Intriguing to me just to sit and watch what it's going to do next with the changing of the tides, the lights, the weather, the time of day. Enjoy!

"Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever. Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous." ~ Psalms 112:1-4

This is one of our many majestic scenes we have in America. "The Great White Throne" is located in Zion National Park, Utah looks like a flattop stool fit for giants and twoers above rugged rock precipes, while aspens aglow with sunlight glitter beneath it. Enjoy! ~Connie

"Golden Sunrise" ~ 20" x 16" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Luminous Landscapes by Connie Tom

There's nothing so mystical as the sunlight filtering through the atmosphere in an early morning sunrise on the lake. The fog is still hovering over the water and it's sooooo peaceful! Just the sounds of nature that you might hear...the rippling of water as a fish breaks the surface, a slight breeze in the air. ~ Enjoy!

"For what saith the Scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." ~ Romans 4:3

"California Napa Valley Vineyard" ~ 1/03/09 Hudson River School A Painting a Day California Landscapes by Connie Tom

This work pictures a scene of a winding road beside a vineyard in California's Napa Valley. There's an anticipation in the maritime climate here where every turn in the road brings yet another beautiful vineyard. Enjoy!

"...for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." ~ Matthew 12:34-37.

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." ~ Isaiah 55:10-11.

"Shhh...I Can Hear the Country Calling! II" 4-5-08 Spring Flowers Landscapes by Connie Tom

It's Spring! I've been couped up behind this easel; the wood stove going; the windows shut. When the sun's shining and new life is teeming and sprouting up everywhere in grasses and flowers, I'm soooo ready to get outside in the country, smell the clean fresh air and check my flower beds or out in the field to see what new flowers are coming up voluntarily. It's just like a gift from God!

"I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wonderous works." ~ Psalm 145:1-5

"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3.

"Flowers and Grasses" ~ 3/26/08 A Painting a Day Spring Landscape by Connie Tom

As one season changes into another, as winter changes into spring, the earth seems to come alive from the dead. I love to watch how flowers seem to spring up out of the ground and the grasses began to grow and sway in the sweet, warm breeze graced with sunlight. ~ Enjoy!

"As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good." ~ Ecclesiastes 11:5-6.
