"Sunset at Grand Falls" ~ 34"x22" Hudson River School A Painting a Day Arizona Sunset Landscapes by Connie Tom

I love waterfalls! This one reminds me of the free flowing love and grace of Almighty God showing something about His character through His Creation. The Bible says that we can know the invisible things of God through the things that are seen. This work pictures a brilliant sunset back in the 80's over Grand Falls, Arizona. The light shining through the fog and mist breaks down into prismatic colors through the mist and fog. ~ Enjoy!

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." ~ Matthew 7:7-8.

"Sierra Nevadas" ~ 24"x30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School California Landscapes Paintings by Connie Tom

This was another intense study that I did of one of the Hudson River School masters, Albert Bierstadt that painted back in the 1800's. He, Frederick E. Church, and Jasper Cropsey are my favorites had the most dramatic lighting, mood and atmosphere. I am very thankful for what I have learned from having done many of these studies. I now incorporate the techniques in my more contemporary paintings. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

"Creek Retreat IX" ~ 20" x 16" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

"Creek Retreat IX" ~ This work pictures a small country creek meandering it's way over ledges creating beautiful peaceful waterfalls through the countryside. Autumn has began to color the trees. This would be a perfect, intimate place to go to with someone you love, and bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to sit on and enjoy nature's awesome beauty. Enjoy!

"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore Love is the fulling of the law. ~ Romans 12:9-10, 13:10
And now abideth faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." ~ I Corinthinians 13:13.

"The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." ` Psalm 19:9-11.

"The Turning of Autumn in Yosemite Valley" ~ 11/29/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom

"The Turning of Autumn in Yosemite Valley" is another intense study I did of Hudson River Valley master artist Albert Bierstadt. All of the HRS masters concentrated very much on the light and the effects it has on producing the mood and atmosphere of the work. I too with my art am concerned with... does it produce the "right kind" of mood in the viewer. I take this as a very serious responsibility. Let me know what it produces in you by leaving a comment. I would love to hear from you! ~Connie

"Hope" ~ 10/17/07 A Painting A Day by Connie Tom ~ Luminous Oil Paintings

Sold!

Collection of Jeffrey Antisdel ~ Niles, MI

Our walk through this life can sometimes be like walking through a forest of tall trees. The trees can represent circumstances bigger than we are that aren't going to move and we must walk on through. Sometimes there are obstacles in the way that we must step over. Sometimes the path is uneven and rocky. We must always keep our eyes on the light representing that which is good, and we will see our way through. The beauty and refreshment of the waterfall and lake at the end gives us the drive to walk on in "Hope".
