One more commission painting done! This work was a commission painting to go in the lobby of a newly constructed medical facility. They wanted a picture of Mount Rainier with a dramatic sky and clouds... a sunrise, and one that would evoke feelings of peace, beauty and healing. "The Pounding Surf Against the Rocky Coast" is another intense study I have done of the revered Hudson River School master Frederic Edwin Church. There is something so fascinating to me about the ocean.... it's massiveness, I guess. Completely out of man's control. Always moving with a thousand little glints of reflected light. Intriguing to me just to sit and watch what it's going to do next with the changing of the tides, the lights, the weather, the time of day. Enjoy!

It's Spring! I've been couped up behind this easel; the wood stove going; the windows shut. When the sun's shining and new life is teeming and sprouting up everywhere in grasses and flowers, I'm soooo ready to get outside in the country, smell the clean fresh air and check my flower beds or out in the field to see what new flowers are coming up voluntarily. It's just like a gift from God!
