"Sailboats in the Sunset II" ~ 12"x24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes Paintings by Connie Tom

This is the second in a series of paintings entitled the "Sailboats in the Sunset Series". This work pictures a beautiful sunset that is also reflected in the ocean. There are sailboats along the horizon and breakers are making their way to the shore. Sunsets and sunrises are my favorite time of day to paint because that's when you can see the most dramatic lighting. Enjoy!

"Then spake Jesus unto them saying, "I am the Light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." ~ John 8:12

"Study of a Rim Sitter" ~ 16"x12" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Mountain Landscapes by Connie Tom

Rim sitting has been popular throughout the ages for contemplative purposes. To have time to oneself to sit on the world's most elevated places helps to clear the mind and make problems seem to diminish in the view of such vast and timeless beauty. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the LORD all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul. ~ Psalm 103:19-22.

"Majesty" depicts the wide open spaces of the West. This was a tedious painting with much detail, but I was pleased with the finished painting. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it. ~ Connie

"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith." ~ Ephesians 3:14-17.

"Ocean Waves" ~ 24"x36" Hudson River School A Painting a Day California Landscapes by Connie Tom

I love the look and the feel of the sunset on the ocean. The ocean itself is mezmerizing to me with the fascinating waves endlessly coming in and going back out. But when the sunset is upon it, the play of light is just Wonderful!!! You've got the light filtering through the mist and fog, and zillions of little highlights, causing prismatic colors to be realized. It makes me remember how Great is the God who created it and, as the Bible says, holds all the oceans of the world in the palm of His hand. I myself have never known a love so absolutely Pure and Wonderful and True as the Love of God. ~ Enjoy!

"For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." ~ Isaiah 55:10-11.

"And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul; And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in Him will I trust: He is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; Thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." ~ 2 Samuel 22:1-4.

"Old Man and the Beagle Pups" ~ 24" x 30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes by Connie Tom

Several years ago, I had the privilege of riding with some friends to visit their friend... the one in the painting. He was 91 years of age and full of wit and wisdom. I tell a funny story about him on my website. He must have loved his wife, he spoke of her often even though she had passed away five years prior. Now these beagle hounds filled the gap. Even though the pups he tenderly holds are yapping, clamoring for attention, he is still the main attraction. There was such a kindness about him. He's passed on now, but memory of him still remains. Enjoy!

"A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." ~ Proverbs 12:10

"Fishing at First Light II" ~ A Painting a Day Hudson River School Fishing Boats Sunsets Landscapes by Connie Tom

I love to paint beautiful sunsets and sunrises and people out in nature having fun. This work pictures a panaramic view of two lucky fishermen up at the crack of dawn out in their boat on the lake ready to get their first catch of the day. Sunsets and sunrises often sets the mood and atmosphere of the terrain. Today this dramatic morning light only heightens the thrill, freedom and exhilaration of the beginning of their day. ~ Enjoy!

"O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only." ~ Psalms 71:12-16.

"Autumn's Hidden Sanctuary III" ~ 24" x 30" A Painting a Day Hudson River School by Connie Tom

The gold of autumn leaves are laced with sunlight in this woodland sanctuary. I had a problem with the photography of this work. The actual painting is not quite so intense of yellow, and has a delicate lace of sunlight of white, tinted with just a little yellow that is not showing up in the photo. Almost like a very light cream colored lace. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

"Moon Over the Water" ~ A Painting a Day Hudson River School Luminous Landscapes Paintings by Connie Tom

I really enjoyed painting this one, trying ever so hard to get that luminescence of light in the sky. It was achieved layer upon layer of paint. I wanted it to be a fairly simple in composition, mostly just nature, so as to evoke a feeling of peace and tranquility and I think the cool green and blue colors are soothing also ~ Enjoy!
