"Lanterns of Gold IV" ~ 12/17/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
When I walk through the woods, I find myself in awe of the beauty of nature. I am aware of the life teeming all around me, be it plant or animal. As an artist, I watch with interest the play of light on the millions of leaves as the wind creates movement in the branches and limbs. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~Connie
"O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
"Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works." ~ Psalms 104:24, 30-31

"My Utmost for His Highest" ~ 12/09/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
The title for this work was taken from a devotional book I love to read by Oswald Chambers. What higher goal could an artist have? The size of this work is 24"h x 20"w. This painting was a study done of a work by Thomas Moran of Kanab Canyonlands.
~ Enjoy!

"Autumn's Impression III" ~ 12/06/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
Wouldn't you like to have this log cabin as a your own personal retreat to escape to with the ones you love whenever you would like? Just imagine.... sitting on the front porch of this log cabin that sits on the side of a hill in the autumn woods, watching the morning sunrise. Seeing the morning fog still hovering over the blue-purplish mountains on the other side, watching a herd of mountain sheep heading toward a river down in the valley below for a morning drink. You could go canoing or fishing at your leisure, no time schedule, plenty of groceries and good food, clean linens, curtains on the windows, and a fire in the fireplace for when it gets a little cool. Candles, of course! Some chairs on the front porch to sit in outside or to take a walk to explore the countryside and enjoy the myriad of beautiful, autumn colors with which God creates in. Hear the breeze rustling through the treetops and all the wonderful sounds of the woodland creatures and enjoy the simplicity and purity of nature. ~ Enjoy!

"Silvery Blue" ~ 12/03/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
The colorful autumn birches stand out in a pleasing to the eye contrast against the silvery blue waters of this mountain lake in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Enjoy!
"This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word (the Son), and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." ~ 1 John 5:6-7

"The Turning of Autumn in Yosemite Valley" ~ 11/29/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
"The Turning of Autumn in Yosemite Valley" is another intense study I did of Hudson River Valley master artist Albert Bierstadt. All of the HRS masters concentrated very much on the light and the effects it has on producing the mood and atmosphere of the work. I too with my art am concerned with... does it produce the "right kind" of mood in the viewer. I take this as a very serious responsibility. Let me know what it produces in you by leaving a comment. I would love to hear from you! ~Connie

"These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." ~ John 14:25-27

"Autumn's Welcoming" ~ 11/26/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
It's early morning. The sun is still coming up, sky is blue and the morning fog is still wafting through the trees. The dew glistens on the leaves from the morning light and autumn is welcoming you to take a refreshing morning walk and enjoy her beautiful, cheerful and colorful autumn foliage ~Enjoy!
"The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the the hills, and they smoke. I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord." ~ Psalm 104:31-34

"The Still Small Voice" ~ 10/30/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
SOLD!
Collection of Tom DiMartino ~ Buffalo, NY
"The Still Small Voice" was another intense study I did of Hudson River Master Frederick E. Church. The wilderness is a place for solitude and quiet contemplation. The Boston Evening Transcript published this in Church's day:
Solitude reigns over the scene, and as the eye ever turns away
from the wilderness below to gaze upon the brilliant canopy of the sky,
the imagination whispers that he who was once
'led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted,
must often at the twilight hour have turned his gaze
from the gloom and loneliness of the forest
to the brightness and beauty of those heavens
which to his vision of faith were ever opened,
revealing the 'Father of Lights'.
~Enjoy!

"Autumn's Hidden Sanctuary III" ~ 10-26-07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
SOLD!
Collection of Ron Meyers ~ Kailua Kona, HI
The gold of autumn leaves are laced with sunlight in this woodland sanctuary. I had a problem with the photography of this work. The actual painting is not quite so intense of yellow, and has a delicate lace of sunlight of white, tinted with just a little yellow that is not showing up in the photo. Almost like a very light cream colored lace. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

This is a view from my front porch that I see when I go out to drink my morning coffee. The sunrays shine right through the opening. Enjoy!

"Hope" ~ 10/17/07 A Painting A Day by Connie Tom ~ Luminous Oil Paintings
Sold!
Collection of Jeffrey Antisdel ~ Niles, MI
Our walk through this life can sometimes be like walking through a forest of tall trees. The trees can represent circumstances bigger than we are that aren't going to move and we must walk on through. Sometimes there are obstacles in the way that we must step over. Sometimes the path is uneven and rocky. We must always keep our eyes on the light representing that which is good, and we will see our way through. The beauty and refreshment of the waterfall and lake at the end gives us the drive to walk on in "Hope".

"Cold Water Creek II" ~ 09/27/07 A Painting a Day by Connie Tom
SOLD!
Collection of Randy Mellinger ~ Sparks, NV
This is the second in a series of paintings entitled "Cold Water Creek Series". There is something so exhilarating about a cold water creek. First of all, I like the solitude and listening to just the sounds of nature. Enjoy!
"The law of the LORD is perfect converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, that much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb." Psalms 19:8-10

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. ~ Psalms 1:1-3

"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; bu was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." ~Hebrews 4:14-16

"There remaineth a therefore a rest to the people of God. For he 6that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, p[iercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:9-12
