"Romantic Sunset Surf" ~ 24"x30" A Painting a Day Luminous Hudson River School Landscapes and Seascapes California Art by Connie Tom
There is something so mezmerizing to sit, watch and listen to the ocean... The endless tide coming in and then going back out. The sound of the crashing of the waves. The thousands of glints of light reflecting off of the ocean's waves. The light of a beautiful sunset filtering through the misty atmosphere creates such a captivating mood and atmosphere, such a beauty... Sooooo romantic..... Enjoy!
""For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." ~ Isaiah 55:10-11.

"Monterey Cypress" ~ 36"x24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes California Art by Connie Tom
"Monterey Cypress" was a fun to do. The ocean holds such an awesome, mezmerizing amazement for me. There's something about large panaramic views of the ocean that reminds me that some of the vast regions of the earth are yet unexplored by man and makes me appreciate the wonder and beauty of this created design... which always brings you back to the Creator. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoyed painting it! ~ Connie

"Captured by the Light III" ~ A Painting a Day Hudson River School Luminous Landscapes Paintings by Connie Tom
I absolutely love the luminosity of Light! When you think of "light", it's something light and airy, not heavy and burdensome. I think of purity, holiness, and rightousness, cleanliness, godliness, not dark, dreary, tainted, down and dirty, and filthy. Jesus Christ said, "I am the Light of the world". "He who cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out." "Come unto Me, ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest unto your souls". I guess that's why I am soooo drawn to the light and thus want to paint it. I am fascinated and mezmerized by it. It cheers me up and makes me joyful. It reminds me of all the things I have to be grateful for. Just as I am, this lone boater seems to be "Captured by the Light". ~ Enjoy!

"Forest Floor" ~ 16"x20" A Painting a Day Hudson River School Landscapes Oil Paintings by Connie Tom
Trees fascinate me! And forests.... how the light filters through the leaves and highlights some and leaves some in the shade. Then the light changes, and you have a whole new painting. I hope you enjoy this one! ~ Connie
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, O Lord my God, Thou art very great; Thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest Thyself with light as with a garment: Who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters: Who maketh the clouds His chariot: Who walketh upon the wings of the wind: Who maketh His angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire." ~ Psalm 104:1-4.

"And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." ~ Habakkuk 2:2-4.

"Fishing in the Moment" 24" x 36" Hudson River School Daily Painters by Connie Tom
These two lucky fishermen have escaped the busy-ness of life, not only to fish if they please, but to experience the elements of life and nature. They are out on the lake during a beautiful sunset. I wanted to catch this moment in time when the clouds start rolling in and the light from the sunset filters through the atmosphere in the heavens above creating a myriad of cloud colors and quite a light show. When the clouds start moving in fast, you don't know what's going to happen. There's a feeling of vulnerability and also an element of anticipation. In awe of this breathtaking beauty, these fishermen are happily... "enjoying the moment." ~ Connie

"Breakthrough!" ~ 30"x 24" A Painting a Day Hudson River School landscapes by Connie Tom
This is another intense study of one of Hudson River School master Albert Bierstadt that I did. He and Frederick E. Church were two of my favorites. They were masters at trying to capture the sublime. Enjoy!
